Intake and exhaust above water, seal all electrical components. Fuel is a closed system, and as long as he has no leaks it will run. The engine doesn't care what's outside of it, although a hot engine taking a dunk in cold water might cause some issues.

i just got out of the military and we used to do that shit all the time with them for training.they also make an exhaust that runs up the side like a snorkel so the exhaust isnt under water.

i wonder how they seal the crankcase, and all the driveline vents or extend them? that stuff usually doesn't like water as well as mud very much. would suck to have a crankcase fill with water and lock the motor while underwater. lol. them hummers with the 4bts are badass.

HMMV gearboxes and diffs are under pressure. Not sure if or how they vent.

Thats why military shit costs so much. You design it for rediculous levels of funciton under any condition. Shit, they've been waterproofing this stuff for decades. Used to do with gas engines, too. Lot of times there's be valves to close on vent lines for fording.

Extend the driveline vents, the crankcase is already sealed. Only part of the crankcase that is exposed would be the PCV system, but is still closed except for the breather which can easily be ran up on that snorkel he had if need be. It's not like you can go snorkeling in it all day long, but it will do it for a short period of time.

The duece even pumps low pressure air into the bell housing to keep the clutch area dry. I believe it also puts air pressure into the diffs to keep water from seeping in. (Obviously very low pressure)
