I looked at ALOT of chassis's. I liked his the most. And his prices are good. Hes excited about an eb version, hopefully i do him proud.

Is it done yet...lol

I am running a 4r70 but I thought they were just mod bolt patters, I could be wrong or maybe they have both bolt patterns?

Im thinking about doing a reverse manual valve body so I dont have to deal with all the elctronics.

You will be done way before mine im sure, but it will be cool to have another EB based buggy running around.

I'm ready to dump my c6 for something with better gearing, maybe lose the 205 too.

Can we go get it now John? Oh, and again, I just got caught up with you, now you go do this....Dick.

Both my 5.0L explorers have it, and later 3.8L mustangs to which are sbf pattern. 2000-03 mustangs are awesome donors. You can pick those up dirt cheap.

Yeah I was not sure looks like they have a case for each. Im running a 4.6 3v, still in the build process but I think I will be happy with the 4r70

CT if you get the 4r70 and run a 205 you have to modify the extension housing I just did it with mine. Ford kept all the same bolt patterns so thats a plus but you have to cut it out for the shift linkage. I have pics in my build thread if you go that route.

Yeah i looked into that with my 98 ex when i converted it from awd. Np205 or a bw 4406 were the two common options for the conversion. I went with the 4406 for the good low range and light weight in both my explorers. I am half tempted to go with the 4406 in the buggy, but the 205 strength is hard to beat.

205 is strong but holy shit they are heavy My problem with running a 208 or another chain set up was teh width they are much wider than the 205 and I wanted to keep my frame rails as narrow as possible for suspension and I did not want to kick it out and back in for the belly section. If I ran a standard round tube frame I would be OK but Im doing 2x4 lower frame section and the case runs right into it...lol

yeah, notching them for the 205 is simple, I used a wholesaw worked prefect.

What about doing an aod with a 4r70 gearset? Then there is no electronics to deal with. That is what i am going to do to replace the c6 in my bronco.

The 4406 is extremely close in width to the 205 and about half the weight. That is the issue with the 2nd gen explorers and converting from awd in the 5.0L trucks.

Hummm, thats interesting probably has around a 2.6 low range? I had no problem with the 208 in my last buggy held up and to my knowledge is still holding up but it would be nice to do a twin stick. 4406 is chain correct?

Yeah- ideal donors are 97-03 f150's. They came behind both the 4r70w and 4r100 trannies. And came both in elec shift and manual shift. I think its 2.6:1 in low.

But your right, the twin stick option of the 205 is great, and the 205 low range was fine with the eb for the last 16 months or so.
