If you walk in with a check from the guy, don't expect the credit union to sign off on the title unless his check his drawn from the same bank or it is a bank check (cashier's check/money order).

Get a certified cashier's check, or if possible, cash.

Maybe an electronic transfer is possible.

Banks often make you wait for the funds to clear now, even on cashier's checks.

So how much did the Nigerian give you for shipping?

Wait till the last minute and ask how on a totally unrelated forum.

Each bank might be different, so it's probably best to know what kind of check you are receiving and give the bank a call.

Cash is king. He should bring the payoff of your loan in cash if he can, not the safest way, but it is the most effective.

Then a cashiers check for you for the rest, so he can carry as little cash as possible.

Bank.

Cash.

Make sure they actually do sign-off on site. Some don't and need to send it to a central office or a department that is located elsewhere.

I believe that selling a vehical is currently illegal.

As only a douchebag would think that is the correct spelling.

this is a crazy idea, but what I would consider doing is calling the leinholder to ask them how they will release the lein so the new owner can get it titled and registered....sounds hard, but really it isnt.
