2005 chevy 6.0l

hey guys, where is the thermostat on a 05 chevy truck with the 6.0 in it? I haven't looked at that truck, i am asking for a friend that is being told it is in the water pump assembly and the whole unit has to be replaced. just wanting to check it out.

It is on the inlet of the water pump (lower radiator hose). If you find a good parts guy he will sell you just the thermostat, but if you'll find most screen readers will sell you a complete pump.
PM me if you cant find anyone smart enough to find it.

thermostat is located on the passenger side of the waterpump just gotta take the air inlet duct out of the way. you don't have to replace the whole assembly. whoever told you that is trying to rip you off. the water neck is removable. and the t-stat is under it
