still trying to find an adapter...i need an adapter to go from my 5 speed stick shift to a np 203 transfer case. I was looking at advanced adapters and couldnt find one that works for either of those. my question is what is would be the difference between what I need and an adapter that goes between a 700r4 and a np 205 transfer case?

you won't find an adapter for your trans, there isn't one. yes there is a big difference. the NP241 that came with the truck is bolted directly to the back of the trans, there is no bolt on adapter. a 700 has a 4 bolt tailhousing that has a 6 bolt flange for the t-case. best bet is to swap to an automatic and buy the adapter for the 203 you wanna use. why you want a 203 i have no idea. unless you want fulltime 4x4 you should get a NP205.

im using a 203 because I already had it laying around and it really doesnt matter to me that its full time. I have a 350 trans that was bolted to it that I can use in the truck but I kinda wanted to stay with the stick shift. I didnt really wanna put the 350 in the truck because then ive got to find a torque converter for the tranny and ive got to get a shifter, plus the extra work of pulling the trans. but I was kinda figuring that they didnt make an adapter. so if you know of any where i can get a torque converter for the 350 trans or a shifter for it that would help out thanks for the info.

what axle you have for the front? should have gotten a ford dana 44 so you could have retained factory drivetrain

yeah I know that would of made it easier but I had a old k5 frame with the axles and tranny transfer case on it so i figured I would just use those. I dont really have a problem with swapping it over to an auto trans, I just would of liked to keep it a stick so my girlfriend cant drive it. haha Im just going to have to put the 350 turbo in with the 203 behind it. It will work for what i use the truck for. I dont do any hard wheeling on with it just every once and a while a mud bog or two. I think I only wheeled the truck maybe 6 or 7 times this year.
