Default np231HD for a Wj *SOLD*

99 np231 with the long input for a Wj auto trans. Has a wide chain in it with a older tail housing to reuse your 247 drive shaft. New output seals. $225 obo *SOLD*

So this is a bolt in t case? What was it originally out of? if I remember correctly the WJ only had a 242 or a 247 t case.

It is a 99xj case with a 247 input and a 231c chain/sprockets/output shaft and tail housing

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the benefit over a 242 transfer case?

stronger and more aftermarket, IIRC the 242 is the weakest case followed by the 247 then a stock 231, this case is even stronger with the wide chain.

Jeepaholic. We don't have the Jeep yet but my wife put a down payment on a 02 Overland yesterday. It has a 4.7HO and I'm not sure what kind of auto and full time 4x4. Would you happen to know off hand if this would bolt right up? I'd REALLY like to have 2wd.

Yes, IIRC the output was a 1/2" difference when I measured the length of the case compared to the AWD Np247. You will need to make a custom shift lever though. And there was never a np231 bezel for the wj

Is the input shaft out of the 247 for a v8 or i6
