Default What do ya think of this suspension idea

Well I was surfing around looking for info on 1 link suspensions.I found this and wanted to know what everyone thought about it as far as geometry and whatever else. So will it work for wheeling and around the town. Here's the link. http://www.pgh-offroad.com/forum/sho...?t=5887&page=2 You'll have to look at the pics on the link I don't know how to get them on here. Thanks for your opinions.

I'm still real new to suspension building. I just liked how simple and different it was to build it with a 3/4 or 1 ton axle. I think I need to do more research.

You'll never get great geometry with a 1 link and you'll have to install so many bandaids to make it work decent that in the end it's not worth whatever savings or benefits you thought you started with. Do it the right way off the bat and 4 link it.

I agree with BBAXJ, I first wanted to do a "out of the box" suspension, but than realized that their are reasons why everyone does 3-4links. And that is because they flat out work.

Really look at the cost of it. I did and found that doing a 3-4 link is only marginally more expensive and still streetable. Search around on here and on Pirate and you will see the reasons that this doesn't work too well.

Thanks for all the advice. I kind of figured that there was a reason but I'm still fairly new to most of the building side of things and I want to learn everything I can. You guys will probably get tired of me asking questions in the future.

We already are. Just kidding.... for now.

Read until your eyes feel like they're going to bleed and when you have the basics figured out ask questions on the things you are unsure of, or do more searching.

www.pirate4x4.com/forum Do more reading than posting there unless it's in newbie gen 4x4. Even then, just about everything has been answered.

there are some real smarts folks on here concerning this topic so if you hit a wall im sure they can help you through it but searching pirate 4x4 will be your best friend

Pirate is definitely cool. I just joined today.I'm Adamtwelve on there. They wouldn't let me use the same name I use here for some reason. I had seen it before in ads but I liked this one better because the people were mostly local. In the words of my boss after he apolgized for screaming at me. I'M A CHANGED MAN. LOL
