Default What is a good sport quad with reverse

Im looking for something a few years old, for about $1,500 to $2,000 Price Range.
Something like the yamaha warrior, somewhere around a 400cc is what im looking for. 300ex is too small.
Looking for something that will do good all around, mud, hill climbing, trails, sand.
Must have reverse and be a manual (no automatic trans)

Give me some suggestions please.
Thanks in advance.

No doubt the Warrior. Strong Motor those 350's are. I bought on new in 94. Sold it, but know for a fact it still runs strong. Most do!!!!

I've got a friend in Carelton who is getting ready to sell a MINT condition Warrior in your price range. PM me if you want his number.

im a huge zuki guy so id have to say go with a ltz 400. they have rev, they are 4 stroke, and have a ton of power to boot. stock they have around 28.9hp, add a yoshimura exhaust k&n with power lid and you can get around 33.2 hp.

if you look around a bit you can find some of the `04-05 KFX700 Kaws with reverse for around $2000-2500

warrior by far the most dependable 300-400cc class out there and would be my pick since the aftermarket has tons of performance goodies......and they ride real nice....i hae one and love it...also look at the new raptor 350. it is the new warrior but looks alot better and still bullet proof...
if i remember correctly you can get a 400ex in their last few years with reverse

no body has menitioned the polaris trail blazers or scrambler. good quads. auto tranny with reverse. cannt ask for much more then that. but the warriors are awesome machines for sure. they will take a beating and just keep going.

He sid he wants manual not auto garbage! Ltz Kfx Dvx 400 can be had for $1800-2800 all day and all are very potent machines in stock and modified versions. Good luck and happy riding

I would pass on the Warrior if you're into doing more than going slow on flat trails. That is 20 year old technology you're dealing with. But they are EXTREMELY dependable, maybe even bulletproof. Back in the day, they were considered to be high performance.

I'll put in my vote for the Suzuki LTZ400 and the Arctic Cat DVX400 (same machine, different plastic). Or for a little more, get a KFX450R.

i am a yamaha guy but the warrior is kind of an out dated heavy turd. The 400 EX is too but that has a little better suspension and handling. the next step up from those would be ltz/kfx/dvx 400. liquid cooling makes a big difference if your going to ride the thing like a sport quad. newer ltzs even have piggy back shocks in front. 1st gen raptors should be in your price range too. those are fun for dunes and fast trails, lots of torque, they want to pull the wheels off the ground every time you get on it out of a corner. its probably gettting to the point where you could find some of the newer 450s in your price range but they would not have reverse.

X2 ESPECIALLY SINCE HE ALREADY BOUGHT MINE A COUPLE WEEKS AGO

Warriors are very reliable, but very outdated and underpowered, same with a raptor 350, they did upgrades, (but not enough) with that being said i have a mint 07 raptor 350 special edition for sale for $2900 if there are so many fans here

I dont know why you feel you need reverse. If your not old or really fat theres not a need for reverse. Get off grab the grab bar and spin it around. And that opens your possiblities for good quads a lot! Warriors are old and out dated they dont turn, jump or stop for crap. Go for any 400cc vehicle made Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Arctic Cat are all good and will run forever. Raptors are really top heavy and clumsy, pretty much the only yamaha quad thats worth a crap is the 450 but no reverse.

totally agree you can find great deals on 400ex right now and they blow the warrior away in every category and if you can find a 05 or newer for your price range they have reverse.

I have rode along side many of the quads people have mensioned here. the fastest one has to the 450 yamaha hands down. it out corners everthing with a good rider on it. the rapturd I was following in the tight stuff could barely pull away from from My Polaris Magnum 325 2x4(540lbs)+ me. the 400 ex is a great relieble quad if you don't muck with it. leave it alone and it will stay running forever. I have only delt with the DRZ 400 bike and not the LTZ quad, but they are very relieble. stay away from the single lever braking of Polaris quads if you can.(everyone elses left lever is rears only) if your not used it and jump on from another style machine it will cause you to flip on a down hill as did mine. packed me head first into a tree at 5 mph and destroied my knee.
