The Obama people have gotten to the American Cancer Society.

When is this shit going to stop? Now the ACS is changing it's stance on cancer screening, no doubt to conform with Obama's health care plans. They are now saying that cancer screening is not always necessary, and that some cancers are not dangerous and might go away on their own, without treatment. WTF??? Nothing like a glimpse of how things are going to be when that disaster of a health care bill passes.

because obama knows screenings will drive up costs. the only affordable way to give us socialized care is to make the care completely shitty.

Canada has the same health care system we are running from.
Socialized Medicine. It is a great health care system IF YOU ARE NOT SICK.

The American Cancer Society, which has long been a staunch defender of most cancer screening, is now saying that the benefits of detecting many cancers, especially breast and prostate, have been overstated.

It is quietly working on a message, to put on its Web site early next year, to emphasize that screening for breast and prostate cancer and certain other cancers can come with a real risk of overtreating many small cancers while missing cancers that are deadly.
WTF?

How is finding out earlier than later that you have cancer bad? How many times have we heard or been told if it was found earlier it might have been treatable.

Just in case you missed it before WTF??

I agree.

But blaming this on Obama and the health care reform bills in congress is a bit of a stretch, don't you think?

ACS has long been a very respected organization and continnues to be just that.

Let me translate this for you.

"The american cancer society has decided that even after years of bloated advertising on how important early cancer detection is, has now recanted this theory upon receiving much funds from the big nig white house. with an insatiable hunger for spending and maniacle thirst for totalitarian control, the white house has paid the ACS a shitload of money to change their message in hopes for the head ghetto flea to force his aristocracy exempt shitty health care plan through the congress and down the throats of the capitalist pigs that he rules over."

Nope. What else you think caused it? This is cancer we are talking about. Not a bad tooth.

What people don't seem to be noticing is that Obama could give two rat's asses about how respected an organization is. To get what he wants, he gets his cronies to put a Chicago political thumbscrew to them til they beg for mercy and do exactly what he wants.
Do you really think after so many years of being so serious about early detection and treatment, that they suddenly decided, on their own, that they have been overreacting and cancer is not as big of a deal in some cases? Guaranteed that Obama's pals got to them.
Think about it- Barry and his crew has realized that once they achieve their goal of having to provide health care to all 307 million U.S. citizens, the cost of providing screening for every ailment that everyone in this country might get will be astronomical. The costs for actual treatment of the existing ailments will be bad enough, adding the screening costs will make the whole plan be even more outrageous. The solution: get organizations like the American Cancer Society and others to downplay the necessity of screening and early detection, as well as the ailment itself, in the hopes that the populace will refrain from screenings, and try to "tough out" their health issues instead of seeking treatment, therefore saving the Fed the money it would have to spend to treat you.
BHO's health care plan isn't about taking care of us- it's all about cementing his legacy. Nothing more.

I read the article - but didn't see where money exchanged hands.

While I believe this is outrageous for a ACS to make such a change (my mother has be diagnosed with, and beaten three different types of cancer - all from early detection), I don't see where this is "Obama money" making them change their stance.

I'd be curious to see who he's talked to in the ACS organization or who might end up benefiting from this tack. Maybe he promised someone the surgeon general's spot...

Okay...I am truly confused how the Obama admin would destroy the ACS if they wouldn't go along with said coercion.

Not being a smartass (for once) - but how would one go about accomplishing such a task? I can see bribing an official with an important appointment...

How about threatening to sick the IRS on them, threatening to regulate them and their business, threatening to force their execs to step down, total government takeover of their organization. Remember, these guys will do anything to anyone to push their agenda through.
