I am really sad to hear about your dog. I put a dog down in December and sometimes still have a hard time with it.

Sorry for your loss. I wish for once one of my dogs would just pass away in its sleep. It never seems to happen that way, we have always had to put them down. One of the hardest things to do.

A sad day

I feel your pain Ron.
our husky/rotweiler has been fighting reanal kidney failure now for almost three years. the vet said he wouldnt last a year. He is slowing down and having more dificulty, we dont know if it will be two weeks or two months but it will be soon. it is sad to see him slowly declining, but he still enjoys life, he will let us know when it is time.
I will cry like a baby when that happens.

Thanks for all of the kind words and support. This has been really hard for us, especially for my wife and kids, but seeing all of your responses has been really comforting. It's just so damn hard to come home and not see her here waiting. My wife is a total basketcase and my three year old keeps asking when Greta is coming home. I'm sure it'll get easier with time, but . . .

unless you don't think you should do another one, it sounds like it's time for a greta jr. for your jr. (and for you).

I have a five year old german shepherd and I'm dreading the day that I have to do this since it will be my first most beloved pet and companion. I sorry for your family's loss.

nice to hear people love their dogs this much. so sorry for your loss. i didn't even want another one when my last lab of 16 years passed away in my parents bed with them 3 years ago. the whole family got together his last 2 nights. our family doesn't even get together for the holidays. my girlfriend pretty much made me get another. couldn't be happier. we buried our lab in a pet cemetary. we still visit from time to time.

Not sure as of yet on a replacement.
We also loved her more than most people. I could always trust her and knew what to expect. And unlike people she gave 110% all of the time out of love and devotion. Most people never give more that a half-assed attempt and at that there needs to usually be something in it for them first.
Once again thanks to all who have helped, Please post pics of your own family pets no matter what the animal may be we would love to see your family friends also.

So sorry to hear this. Very sad day. Your dog was beautiful.

I have a 10 yr old german shepherd who is missing one of her back feet, so she "hops".
I worry about her hip and how much longer it will hold out.
