I used to never collect unemployment for the longest time in construction as I felt it was a form of welfare my boss used to ask why i didn't collect as he paid into it for the reason

season workers employers pay into the fund so we can work seasonally..now that i am Married and 4 kids to feed I collect it for the last 6 years and been working seasonally my hole adult life.....But I do plow during the winter time to help make cash during the winter...so all you haters can kiss my ass if you think we are getting hand outs

just got told today we start hauling gravel for the county of 900,000 tons of road gravel to fix the road at 50 tons a run and only 4 trains on it maybe that will take a while then move on to hauling salt we hope

No bitching. Just curious if Anyone else has had the pleasure. It's a terrible feeling. It can make a guy a little butt hurt until he finds a new source of income.

oh and I would rather be working all the time then ever collecting unemployment
but burger slut isn't an option unless i had to as I can plow snow when it falls and collect unemployment and stay home with the kids instead of having to get a sitter

but I would much rather have a year around good paying job but so would everyone else in MI that is laid off

you'd have to hit the aj hall level to do that.

I don't understand how you feel or believe something employer's pay into for a reason is a free lunch, or how it is undeserved. twelve used a poor choice of words to phrase his thought, but he's correct; the fund is there for a reason.

Are you limited to only the funds that your employer has paid in for you?

I'm not aware of how much an employer puts in vs the % of your normal wage that you'd receive. Given its a reciprocal system, but does the state use the funds at all in their budget?

If anyone could chime in on this with some statistics, that would be interesting.
