Default fuel pump issues!

i have a 2002 alero and the fuel pump is only turning on time to time could the ignition switch have anything to do with this?

check grounds first. they commonly go bad on every vehicle that sees salt.

i finally took it in and the guy at the shop said that he droped the tank and all the wires looked good.

just cuz the wires by the tank are good doesn't mean you don't have a bad ground. the PCM controls the fuel pump that could have a bad ground, there could be a bad engine to body ground or a bad battery to body ground. just giving you ideas of other things to check. could also be a bad or shorted relay.

yeah i changed the rely to be safe and my battery is bad. do you know where the ground wire would be on this type of car?

look at the negative cable from the battery. it should have a large cable going to the engine and a smaller one that will go to the body nearby. if you have a dead battery then that can also cause your problem.
