Default Silver Lake Sand Dunes

I plan on heading up to the silver lake sand dunes this weekend July 7-9. I have not been their since before the voucher system. I was wondering how long you have to wait to get vouchers and is it better to get them on friday night. I like to drink and do real camping so I plan on staying at a state forest campground near Baldwin about an hour away. The problem is I and really don't want to have to drive down just for a voucher on friday at 9pm but also don't want to get out their on sat and end up getting a voucher for 5pm. Any information would be helpful, also wondering what psi I should run. I have a stock jeep xj with bfg all terrains. Thank you

Default vouchers

If you are going to trailer your rig to the dunes you should probably go friday night to get a parking lot voucher for saturday, I believe they start handing out parking lot vouchers at 9:oo p.m., on the other hand if you are going to drive your rig from baldwin then you can get dune ready vouchers starting at 12:00 noon on friday, therefore you will have plenty of time for fun Friday evening!:beerbang, as for tire pressures I would probably start with about 15lbs and see how that works and go down as needed. Hope this helps.

I think after 4 PM you don't need a voucher, and i doubt a stock XJ is going to be trailered there and need a Parking voucher.

I think i'd take my chances at showing up at the voucher place at 9AM for a voucher then. But don't take my word on it, depends on how busy they are. Maybe call nearby campgrounds and ask if they have vacancy.

BTW i might show up there on saturday. I'll be the green samurai with a fancy PVC snorkel

We will be out there this weekend. Look for a Gray 2500 Silverado with a huge 3 and 8 sticker on the back.

Just to make myself clear, someone asked how the voucher system worked and I gave the information on how it works. I don't know this person, and I don't know whether he trailers his jeep or not, I just gave the information both ways to help out.
