how often somebody runs into a huge ass tree across the road?

A girl I graduated with was driving down rattalee lake road (right by your house) last winter, or the spring and a branch fell off a tree, went through the windshield and through her heart killing her.

Kinda weird though, straight road, and it makes it sound like he didn't even try to stop or swerve. He always talked about hauling ass down the back roads though. And it happened at 11:55 and he was suppose to be to work at noon which is like 15 minutes away from the crash site.

Neighbors called earlier to have it removed, so it fell Earlier, I'm guessing he fell asleep, he was always tired.

That sucks, sorry for your loss. That's not far from my morning/evening route, kinda scary.

It's a shame that the county was going to "get to it later".

So sorry to hear this :-(

Someone did offer a reasonable explanation of what might cause someone to not stop for a downed tree in the middle of the day:

"Having been a professional truck driver for years, I think I can shed some light on this matter. Regular drivers sometimes put their brains on autopilot. They drive the same rout every day and see everything they expect to see. They avoid expected obstacles automatically. The trip becomes automated.
I've had people look directly at a big red semi and totally not see it because they simply were not expecting to see one there. The same goes for a downed tree limb or anything else unusual or out of place. People driving with their brains on autopilot can look right at it and not see it because it does not fit what they expect to see. It's similar to 'road trance', and it can happen even on the shortest of trips. Especially on trips you've taken many times before."

We lost our friend in a motorcycle accident a little over 2 years ago. It was at Deal's Gap. Many antimotorcyclists made terrible comments on the online news articles making broad generalizations that were aweful to hear about our friend. People are so ignorant and closed minded they fail to see that one day his daughter will google to see if there is any information about her daddy's accident online and see these negative comments from assholes.

The comments on ClickOnDetroit and Freep seem to always be written by the most racist, idiotic, arrogant people I have ever seen. This isn't just limited to Detroit news outlets either, I've noticed it all over the country when looking at other local news pages.

Something about the ability to post almost completely anonymously brings out the supreme stupidity in people.
