Guys my AC only works on max, not on regular AC. Also if I want to adjust the air warmer it will only blow ice cold.....any ideas?

Need more info. Is it manual, with knobs, or is it automatic a/c? Gas or diesel engine? Also does it only blow out of the defrost or does the air come out of where ever you select it to?

it is manual with knobs. Diesel engine, and vent selector works. The air will blow out where ever I select it. It seems like a strange issue I have with this thing

yes fan seems to work in all speeds. Another thing that perplexs me is that when the Max AC is selected and blowing cold I can turn the temperature contol button to full hot and it will still blow cold. I kind of wonder if my temperature contol button could be bad, or maybe a blend door or such....what do you think?

I had a similar problem on my '99, but the air was only coming out the top vents. Turned out to be the vacuum pump. If I had to guess, I'd say it's the blend door or blend door actuator. I would try ruling that out before dealing with the temp. control.

From all of the searching I have done on this issue I have never came across anyone with this situation. Do you know where the Blend door is on the super duties?

I know this isn't going to be exactly the same as the Super duty, but it's the best example I could find and should still give you the general idea where everything is located: http://www.f150online.com/forums/hva...-pictures.html

UPDATE: Now I think my problem must be in the blend door or something like it. Last night I put my defrost and feet heat on and it would blow cold, almost as if the AC was on from those vents. It did this for a few minutes then I think I hit a big bump and the heat seemed to kick on in those vents......

Defrost turns on the A/C compressor so that you get dry air on the windshield (so it doesn't fog up).

Sounds like the temperature blend door is either broken, or warped and not allowing it to move (or warped and broken). Could also be a bad blend door motor. I don't remember if the motor is mounted on top of the plenum behind the glovebox area or on the front of the plenum behind the center dash.

I think you are right. I will have to do some digging online to find out where the blend door is located.

ok I have done some searching and cant find much information on even how to check if the blend door is the issue. Any Ford techs on here that have worked with Super duty HVAC systems before?

You should be able to see it through the glvoebox. Sits on top of the plenum.

I'd try taking the motor out and changing the temperature and watch the motor. If it's turning, the blend door is probably broken where the motor shaft inserts.

Thanks Kevin! I found out that the PO had removed the blend door actuator motor. Im going to go to ford dealership to see how much a new motor is. Hopefully the blend door is not broken as I believe the dash will need to be removed to fix that.
