my cousin had a similar issue w/ his old cherokee. it skipped 2nd when it got warm and took forever to engage into reverse [when warm/hot]. he picked up a parts trans and swapped out the solenoids to see what would happen, and the different solenoids fixed it

Swap out the solenoid pack. Verify the plug color before you buy one. Lastly do not over torque it. Good Luck.

Truck took a great big steamy shit when I was trying to move it today. Trans is coming out for a rebuild.

did it just go bang ? and free rev.. chances are it did the same thing mine did, mine blew the snap clip off the drive drum along with having a worn out od bushing and worn out clutchs..
