Default LS2 mated to Th400

whats required? my friends thinking about picking up a LS2 and dropping it in his 84 monte carlo. he has a Th400 and would like to keep the trans. i told him the torque converter spacing and pattern is different he doesn't seem to think so. he wants to keep his converter because he has some special variable pitch converter.

The pilot on the converter is WAY different, so is the offset of the pads between the converter's face and flywheel. Bolt pattern is the same, but you will loose 1 bell bolt.

Try this.

This flexplate is designed for use when bolting a GM LS-based motor to a TH350, TH400, 700R4 or 4L60OE transmissions.

you can use everythign as-is but you need the little $30 spacer for the converter pilot. I have just about this exact setup sitting in the barn and I used the LSx flywheel and the th400 converter. if you buy the flywheel it's the easiest way to accomplish the mating. I dont like the lack of bolts holding the trans on so I'm going to make a little angle piece so I can still clamp the top of the bellhousing down to the block.
