We've hunted them extensively in the central Michigan area and a little bit here in the Holland area. You need alot of patience and time to do this. We sit fence rows and call them in and also run dogs on them across vast areas of property. It's a blast and you better be in good physical condition for some of the adventures especially when there's snow on the ground.

jerk the chicken works great

make a 4 foot t-post in the ground and tie one string around the leg of a live chicken (make the string so thats its just short of the chicken being able to land on the ground if he jumps down) and tie another string to his other leg and run the string back to your blind (50 yrd or so) and tug the string every 20 minites or so the chicken falls off and it will try to land but immediately fly back up, making a natural distress call. my buddies dad did it this way for years and has a some nice pelts

BTW totally illegall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!lol

I saw a huge female the other day out in a hay field. I think you can shoot them agian now that it is september. We run them with dogs. Best way. Michigan ones are too smart for there own good. Callin works but dogs are more fun.

My dog hunts them...lol! He got one a few years ago and killed three this year, one right in my driveway in the middle of the afternoon...makes me nervous because we have a small child. They are bad around here this year I hear them every night.

I hate coyotes. I hunt over a fresh gut pile or a dead calf with a ar15. they are smart little fuckers, but not smart enough.

they are smart and keen eyed and not in a hurry to rush in to a easy kill so they sit on the side lines and serve the situationand if some thing is out of place they wont go in ya know ho many times I have watch them sit on the edge of the woods watching my bait for 15-20 minutes then duck back in and pop out some where down the line and watch so more before they come to the pile-o-guts and die from a GSW

I used to shoot them for a guy up north who had a sheep farm. As has been said they are way too smart. Just gotta be able to sit and wait them out. My brother and I have hunted them for about 6 years now, get at least 7-8 each year, more sometimes. We prefer to mouth call them, just to add to the challenge. It isn't a sport for people that want immediate results that much is for sure. It takes a lot of practice and a well sighted in rifle for the distances we shoot.

I will let you know when we go out again. There's also a local posse that runs around the area. I have yet to meet up with them but I heard they know every spot to hit around here. They have permission from every local landowner in my area to hunt coyotes. It's deer hunting season right now and I probably won't be going out for these for a little while.

Awesome! Thanks guys! I'm cool with waiting until after deer season- I really won't have time until after T-giving weekend for anything extra with my current build anyway

Yup, local farmers give me a call when they have a animal die. I go get it and stick it out in the woods. Don't take too long with fresh meet on the ground.

I have land in my family and I know my Grandpa and Dad don't want them out there. I'm going to get into this very soon myself. Gotta pick out a gun first. Meijers sells Ghili suits now for $80, lol! Sniper practice fun!
