1.5 HREW is more than fine for recreational or competitive wheeling of a vehicle with a roof.
1.75 is a waste of of effort, money, time, and weight unless your looking to desert race.

yes I've built cages, thanks for asking. 1.5" HREW is fine for trail rigs, but who stops building their rig after putting a 3" lift and 31's on? The natural progression is to continue modding and as your vehicle becomes more capable you tackle tougher stuff and get yourself in worse situations.

I'm originally a desert rat (Palm Desert CA) so I guess I think differently. I've seen high speed rolls happen, and how quickly things can go bad. I happen to enjoy the occasional jump too...

My opinion (different than everyone elses) is that it would be worth it to me for the time and money to put in 1 3/4" cage in an XJ instead of 1.5".

XJs are small inside, I get that. I've DD'd one for 3 years.

Put whatever you want inside your rig, it's your rig, you know how and where you drive and who you are protecting!

What was this thread about anyway?
