Default What size pipes for through hood headers?

Iv got a built 460 but im not quite sure what is all done with it. I know its bored .030 over and then the obvious intake and carb. Im pretty sure its got some cam work as well but im not sure what. The heads as far as i know are stock. Its been a mud truck project of my uncles for years years but hes married and hasnt worked on it in probably 15-20 years. Well, anyway iv taken over and just recently got it running for the first time, and now it time for the fun stuff. Im looking for through hood headers and im not sure what size pipes to look for. 1 1/2 or 1 3/4. Also, where is a good place to get them at a reasonable price. Iv checked decheaders.com and they offer them up to 1 7/8 and 2 inch with the 1 1/2 at $202. Sorry for the rambling. Thanks ahead!

For any real engine 1.5" aint gunna cut it. Shoot for 2". A few options.
1 Buy a cheap ass set of headers and cut off the flanges and build a set from there. Either buy the bends or have a shop bend them up. Use the collector off them also.

2 Buy a good flange off 460ford.com and mandrel bends from and good race shop and build them.

3. Ebay a set of shoenfeld uprightes with 2.125" primary to 4" collector for $340 plus the ride.

if the bolt pattern matches just take a set of hedders swap left to right and turn them up slide down thats what weve done on demo cars.

X2

At least 1 3/4", preferably 1 7/8" or 2"

If you call Shoenfield they will shorten them up for you to any length you want for a little more $$$.
