Default I didn't know...

We bought a dozen books to send to Sarah in Chad, Africa for Christmas. Only DHL will delivery to Chad. So that is the only carrier we can use. The total weight of the box was 28#. We needed to send them this week in order to have a chance they will be delivered around Xmas. I spoke with her on Thanksgiving, and told her we were sending her Xmas present this week. She was excited.

The cost to ship them: $360.00!!!!! OMFG!

Needless to say, that is the only box we'll be sending her for another year. Yikes!!

I was thinking the same thing, but I'm guessing a "fresh" box in africa for 8 or 9 months would probably be rendered "totaled"

Um...no electricity. No faxes. No running water, sparce cell service.

The students in her class don't even have paper, pencils or pens, or something to sit upon. They come to her class every day, sit on the dirt ground, to learn English and try to get a better life.
