multi. groups can solve the prob if there is a good turn out. Trail leaders need to be assigned to show different group runs.

Send me his name and I will send it to lansing Mr .Kubisak will make sure he is up to date. You can beleive what he tells you but verifing it is easier than what you would think. The DNR officers are bull crapping people all the time. I will believe what the guys in Lansing making the laws say. Go to dnr web site and read Designated Routes . I think the work (or) settles it.
ORV req. for 50 inch and less orv's and atv's Not fullsize 72 inch and up.

Where can I legally ride my ORV/ATV on state land?

I wasn't sure what a legal rode or trail on state land is considered. I hunt state land in Presque Isle County. The land I hunt has an old trail or road running through it. Nothing is marked. Is this a legal rode?

Thanks.

Answer
Definitions which define where and how ORV/ATVs may be operated include:

“Forest Road” Forest roads are hard surfaced roads, gravel and dirt roads, and other routes that can be traveled by a conventional 2-wheel drive vehicle designed for highway use (passenger car), including fire lanes and logging roads. “Forest Road” does NOT include any state, federal or county highways or roads. In general, forest road means a road OTHER THAN A COUNTY OR STATE ROAD that the family car can operate on without assistance.

“Designated” means posted OPEN for ORV use with appropriate signs.

Read this Last line“Designated Route” means a forest or county road which has been signed for ORV use by the DNR. For ORVs of all sizes. Either ORV or Secretary of State conventional licensing is required.

“Designated Area” means an area that is signed for cross-country ORV use by the DNR. ORV license is required.

“Forest Trail” Forest trails are designated paths or ways that can only be traveled by vehicles that are less than 50" in width. ORV license is required.

ORV/ATV maps may be found online at:

most of the group will be on cb's, we'll most likely be on a handheld, due to fact I'm can't wire them to save my life; usually just end up shorting something else out..

Out by the river its not bad. There is some logging on the north west side of the river but that doesnt affect much.. It was the trails by Piney Woods where the logging trail really screwed the regular trail. I would not recommend going over that far, which I dont think that is where you guys are going...

Thanks for the heads up, looking to make a huge loop. Depends on the group though, we may just come out by Houghten Lake or west depending on size and time schedules.
