The VP and a trail map. It's always an adventure when we go wheeling (especially on the trails)

From the dnr standpoint, we are good to go. Should be a relaxing days for friends and families.
Eric, I would welcome some points of interest, especially for the luch stopping point.

there are trees already starting to turn. if it keeps getting cold at night, you should be hitting them around prime time.

Let's meet up at 11 AM and head out at 11:30 AM. Meeting area is the Leota Trail Head off from M-61 (Turn to the North) You'll see a brown DNR sign. This will be an all day event so bring some munchies. We do plan to stop for a late lunch out on the trails. You may bring something to share if you'd like. YOU MUST HAVE A DNR TRAIL STICKER (ORV STICKER) ON YOUR VEHICLE TO RIDE ALONG. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Why for you needing a ORV sticker. That whole area is forest Roads and No sticker needed. Wait !!! If your road legal you can go anywhere except Silver Lake , Mounds and St.Hellans. in the Lower P. of Mi.,, Guess I'm out or will go with the other group. I am not going to buy a ORV sticker to run forest Rds when it is not needed. I do know that the trail guide needs a DNR Trail permit for a group if you have more than so many people or rigs in a organized trial ride. But not all members of the group. Unless they have changed that too

These trails are highly patrolled by the DNR. They say not sticker, no usage with the trucks. If we get caught without the stickers on every vehicle, it's off to court or pay the fines.
I PMed her back and reflected my thoughts on it which follow Ron's and am wait for a reply back

I have written confirmation from the dnr. Everyone needs an ORV sticker and NOT A PERMIT. What the DNR has told Dave is what we are going by. They rule the trails not any of us. I'm listening to the authorities on this one.

Well straight from the office of Steve Kubisak. The state forest ORV management official also on the ORV advisory board . The State Law is If you have LEGAL registration and insurance on your passenger vehicle (car truck jeep buggy etc. ) You do not need a ORV permit to drive on forest Rds or ORV routes with the exceptions of Silver Lake Sand Dunes. Genesee County Parks and Recreation Area (The Mounds Due to DNR grant funding) and St. Hellens Motor Sport area in the Lower Pen. of Mi. Your DNR officer is misleading you and you can go on the DNR web site at Michigan.gov and get Mr Kubisaks # and call him . He will be glad to have this officers name and to give you the proper ruling on this. I have his Number at work in my Business Plan for the Park. I have spent a lot of time on the phone and in person talking to him, and yes on this very matter. Also give Trailfanatic a PM ( Pat Brower ) I think you have his Number . If not you should ,He and the GL4WDA can help with many state issues like this a club could have. Facts not speculations
Glad to HELP Ron P.
