Default tbi 350 computer?

I have a '91 TBI 350 chevy running on a 4.3 computer. It runs fine ontil I'm running it hard, then it starts popping and heats up. is this caused from the computer not sending enough fuel? What year computers will be campatible?
Thanks for any help on this.

sounds like your timing is off a little bit, could be the computer, but just go through your ignition system first though. You should be able to run a 5.7L on a 4.3L computer just fine, you just wont have the power the 5.7L is capable of, but the popping and heating shouldn't be caused from that

I think any computer from 1897 to roughly 1992 will work for you. The popping could be caused from the computer, the ignition is computer controlled you NEED the 350 computer!

if you were closer i'd say come down to my area. my friend has the computer program to recalibrate 87-95 gm computers to do what ever you want. he took my 4.3 pcm and made it capable of running a built TBI 350
