The justification for this is that people without insurance end up costing all of us money when they end up in the hospital and can pay the bill. I haven't seen it in writing but it seems to me that if they do this that the money should go into a fund to pay the hospital bills for people that don't have insurance.
So lets make a deal. you don't have to have insurance or pay a fine, but, the hospitals do not have to treat you if they don't think you can pay for their services. They can just dump you on the sidewalk out front and let you die there if you can't pay for services. How does that sound?
