I put a 350 in a Metro, you can put a 460 in a Pickup.

Im sure it cant be all that hard. Dan Saunders put a 400 in a 97 f150. Im sure it could be done.

it seems like with the width of a 5.4 a 460 shouldn't be a problem. You may have to fab up the motor mounts (if you can't find some for sale). Google is your friend. Try some ford truck forums too.

Ya that was me. Looking at a 7.3 stroke and a 460, should be a drop in as far as space. Im just worried about steering shaft space and headers.

Do you have the engine out of the truck already?

No engine in the truck right now, never had one it while I owned it as I bought it as a cab and frame. Ive got a 460/c6/205 combo in the back I am going to try and set in on Sunday. The truck was a 5.4 gasser.

I have a 7.3 powerstroke in my duece and it looks larger from the outside than the 460. I may need to off the stroke' to buy a few more parts for the new toy.

the main things i came across was the bb bell housing was real close to the firewall, i had to gently massage the firewall but then i put a body lift on it and gave me a lot of room the headers on the 400 were a set that was on a bronco and they fit like they were made for it and if you use a altenater off a 99 tauras it will plug in and use the alt brackets off the 460 with no mods if your wanting to use the factory gauges if you would like to come over a see my 97 let me know i wouldn't think that the frames are not too different

I may take you up on that. The superduty frame is 3" wider than a 90's f-350. So I hope the heders for the earlier trucks dont run into the frame rails. Ive talked with Mark at Maddog headers and he says he can send me a set to try and fit. I need to measure the frames on the 70's truck to see if they may be wider than the 90's as they be a better fit.

Ill start a thread of the build shortly. Picked up a boneyard motor to fit into the bay. Ill try and get the mount built this weekend. Also working on shortening the frame of a ex. cab short box to a reg. cab short box.
