Default Why does the government hate the USA?

All the stats I read (from the department of transportation) stated that the corolla was the best selling "cash for clunkers" car during the promotion.

Then I find out that the DOT separated ford escape sales into two different classifications, AWD and front wheel drive.

In fact, combining total sales moves the corolla to 9th place. Why would the DOT all of the sudden change how they count sales to include different drive trains as separate sales?

No, they did that because the government does not want the truth revealed about what cars were purchased under this program. The truth is, people were buying SUV's and pickups, not these shitty ass 45mpg vehicles that only grandma or greenies buy.

Here is the DOT information released, and here is Edmunds release, both using the same raw data to compute what sold.

Rank DOT Edmunds
1. Toyota Corolla Ford Escape
2. Ford Focus Ford Focus
3. Honda Civic Jeep Patriot
4. Toyota Prius Dodge Caliber
5. Toyota Camry Ford F-150
6. Hyundai Elantra Honda Civic
7. Ford Escape (FWD) Chevrolet Silverado
8. Dodge Caliber Chevrolet Cobalt
9. Honda Fit Toyota Corolla
10. Chevrolet Cobalt Ford Fusion

They did the same shit when listing which vehicles got turned in. Ford explorers were broken out by model year because there was so many of them but Grand Cherokees were all lumped together. This let them have a list that was almost all evil SUV's that were being taken off the road.

you have to love the government propaganda machine and the deliberate misleading the very public that elected them to power. Anyone ever played that game lemmings? That is how this world operates pure and simple. Sad, very sad to say the least. a cabin in the woods far far away from any government is looking better and better the more I think about this crap.

Sure they all do it, dems and . But I think that just maybe the dems do it with a little more deception in mind as to tell half truths and not give you all the facts.

For example ,Obama telling everybody that you can keep your doctor, health insurance.... but what he doesn't say is that the cost will be so high to employers that they will drop you from their plan in order to save the company money, business 101. Then you will be forced to accept the public option government health care plan.

It is what they don't tell you that should have all of us very concerned. Be skeptical, be very skeptical

For example ,Bush telling everybody that Iraq was stockpiling WMD and supporting massive terrorist operations against the US, when in reality, the proof of this was inconclusive at best. He had his little "Mission Accomplished" photo op, but what they didn't tell you was that more soldiers were killed AFTER the "mission" was "accomplished" than before.

It is what they don't tell you that should have all of us very concerned. Be skeptical, be very skeptical
Fixed for you, perhaps. Don't let the two party system blind you to the fact that ALL politicians are liars, thieves, and cheats regardless of if they're Black-ish, or if they're from Texas.

In regards to the topic at hand, I do blame the politicians for not putting in some sort of restriction on the type of vehicle that could be purchased. It walks a fine line of socialism vs "free trade" at that point, but when it comes down to it, I'd rather have seen the taxes we're going to have to pay back at least stay here in the US (eventually). Sure, Ford would have lost sales on the Fusion/ Hybrid (built in Hermasillo, Mexico), but hopefully it would have taken some of the Kia or Hyundai sales and moved them to domestic auto makers.

Then again, I guess that's my Democratic ultra socialist dirty ass liberal side speaking, trying to take away peoples' right to choose what vehicle they want.
