I have heard good things about them.
I think the only major problem is, that its a GM.

They are pretty sweet, a buddy of mine had one it was prolly an 04/05 or early 06.

Fast, shifted firm, handled pretty well, and looked BA. Those motors last forever if cared for, and the drivetrain is typical GM, shouldn't have any major problems with one.

no SS came with selectable 4x4. 2wd or AWD only. that aside i would love to have a SS. i've driven just one SS and it was fast for a 5000 lb SUV handles pretty good as well

yea thats what i meant.lol. The base came with selectable. I got confused. I would go with the 2wd in my opinion though. Much more fun unless you like tight corners and traction its also probably a little but faster due to no t-case..

i have driven them a bit,if you want information on them check out www.trailvoy.com

its the 6.0 LS2 engine(the corvette engine)

and i know people on trailvoy that run as fast as 10.76 in the quarter mile in street legal SS's(obviously running some nice mods)

but i love them, they are VERY fast, even stock.

my buddie that has one is always complaining about the trim on the rear doors on his, and how much matinence the gm white paint is. but its fast! with the 4.10 gears it puts you back in the seat way harder off the line than the new camaro ss i drove with an auto. but once your rolling the camaro would lay waste to it. which it should.

I don't think FAST and SUV should be used in the same sentence! They should have put that power train in a small pickup! Remember the Cyclone/Typhoon? I would much rather have a Cyclone over the Typhoon, the Cyclone was a whole second quicker 0-60.

I had a somewhat detailed conversation about these with my buddy Jason, who is a Tech at Al Serra. He said that mechanically, they were a good improvement over the Trailblazer drivetrain and that they don't see them coming back for the same issues that the lower models do.

You can PM him if you like, but he doesn't post much and I don't know how often he even looks at the board anymore after having sold his TJ. His user name is "Racinja". 95geo here on GL owns one, also.

i have seen some pics where they are thinking about putting the same motor in a colorado and making the colorado ss. if they do it should be pretty quick.

I build the air induction systems for the SS's. If you need parts let me know.

on average, people like to have the convenience of a 2nd row seat and enclosed cargo area for this type of vehicle.

I still giggle at things like the AMG Mercede's ML 63 and the like; and for the record I am sorta anti-SUV.

My only gripe would be due to an impression I have, in that the Trailblazer/Envoy both seemed to be plagued by fit/fitment issues with their body trim, and interior bits and pieces. While I have not owned either, I have had some extensive in-cab time in 4 or 5 different ones from friends, family and/or neighbors, and not a one felt 'solid' even from within a few months of new. That all being I have not had any incab time in an SS.

I will bitch about the interior trim, mainly the drivers side rear door inner handle bezel. the day I brought the truck home from the dealer the handle bezel dropped off onto the floor, had it replaced at the dealer and I think I opened that door maybe 20 times in the last year and a half and people have been back there maybe 2 times. A couple months ago the handle dropped back onto the floor. I'm not sure what's up with it but it's irritating having an 08 with 30k miles on it literally falling apart for no reason.

The rest of the truck is great and as soon as I'm done paying for it, it'll be a low 11 second DD. Stone stock with the stock exhaust resonator removed, cold air intake, ECM and TCM tune by vector motorsports it ran a 13.48@103 in 50 degree weather. it's a 2wd and lowered 2"

I really enjoy owning it but if you get a 2wd dont even think of driving it in the winter, it's the worst vehicle I have ever driven in the winter.

Maybe you need to try driving a 400-500hp non-bloated SUV sometime. You'll probably still giggle, but not necessarily for the same reason.

I giggle at them in the same way you do Mark, it's funny to see them laying waste to pony cars, and turbocharged economy cars.

I'd love an AMG ML63 - not as much as a BMW M5, but I'd still happily haul the kids in it instead of the wife's Taurus X

Ever thought about a srt8 instead? We have one at home and love it. No problems w/ it thus far (08 w/ 30k). Stock still and i hate that you cant tow anything w/ it but that's not really the reason we got it for either and i dont think i would like towing w/ an ss anyways. That being said i know ppl do tow w/ them all the time. Ours is really solid and haven't had any issues w/ it but i dont know what the consensus is about them on this site so. I do know that ours is faster than a ss stock too.
