Never thought that was right either. Of course, a lot of those comparisons were based on things that actually happened, rather than assumptions on what might happen.

so why was he compared to hitler? Iraq?

I have a huge problem with people hating bush for iraq and here is why.

the united states and it's love to nursemaid those unable to bring about change in their situation is suddenly opposed to the liberation of a people ruled by ruthless and cruel dictator, who, lets face it was going to be a problem sooner or later.

so people turn on his action and hate on the president for doing something to help other human beings. so it could be that americans only like pumping other peoples tax dollars to crack whores, the terminally lazy, illegal immigrants, immigrants who can't speak english, liars who come here to cheat and abuse our system on the dime of the hard working, welfare junkies, people having babies for a living not to mention the endless amount of leeches that play the race or minority card. for those mentioned it's free stuff as long as you want it.

but for the people of iraq being killed and tortured it's "yeahhhh, we really cannot get behind that as it's stealing free handouts from us" attitude.

once in a while you have to make an action that reaffirms your status as a badass. otherwise you become what we are today: the toughest kid on the block, but only by reputation. challenge him and that reputation quickly changes.

Your argument works both ways. Why are conservatives, who donít seem to care about the poor, the unemployed, the uninsured, or the disadvantaged in their own country, so concerned about the welfare of people on the other side of the planet with whom they have nothing in common? And itís yet to be determined if weíve actually make the lives of the average Iraqi better in the long run.

So by your own admission the 7 years of war has not restored us to ďbadassĒ status. 7 years of war didnít seem to motivate Iran or North Korea to not want to try to make nuclear weapons. How many more years of war till that happens? Sounds like failure to me.

This is where you couldn't be more wrong.

As a free market capitalist I do care very much about the poor. They only hurt the market and bring the country down.
I want everyone to prosper, much better chance for me to make money.

It's your do good way of thinking that does far more harm to poor people by keeping them down and dependent on the government.
Stop giving everyone the option to suck off the teet of those that work hard and create.
Stop doing what makes you 'feel good' and do the right thing. You know the old, teach a man to fish blablabla. It is the truth.

I could not agree with you more. I don't think anyone really could disagree with that.

Any system of help, any safety net, should have an end date. People should be encouraged to fend for themselves and you are right, the system is not set up that way now.

But we, as a nation, can not just simply flip a switch, not in good conscience anyway. The fall out would be devastating to too many, including those working poor that struggle to get ahead, but for whatever reason have not been successful. And in this economy, the devestation would be even more far reaching.

Reform should have come long ago. The Republicans had power in the legislative and executive branch for a long time and really did not do much to reform the industry. Now it is the Democrats turn since they are in power.

The longer something that is broken is allowed to fester, the harder it will be to fix it.

Yes you are correct, it can't be done over night. We are in to deep.
I also agree that the spineless didn't help either.

But you have been defending MORE government intervention, more dependents.
The dems do not want people off the federal dole, they want more. It's the way they stay in power.
No federal welfare-type program is ever allowed to expire, they use the same example you just did, it will be to devistating to those who now depend on it.
