Default firing new BBC tonight, any tips?

Going to prime oil pump, rotate engine 1/4 turn at a time to get all the lifters

set engine to 16 deg BTDC on #1 after compression stroke, distr pointing to #1 plug wire

gapping plugs to .040

have carb filled with fuel, and primed the squirters

still have to fill tranny fluid and P/S fluid, and water/coolant

have all my gauges wired up

bottle of Cam saver in the oil

Anyone in Clawson tonight who hears a lot of ruckus for 20 min, be nice, don't call Clawson's finest

Any other tips?

Haha have fun man!! Just check your oil like a million times before you start it up. I checked mine probably ten times before I fired it up. And have a extra pair of hands available and water like ahose or fire extinguisher just in case.

have a fire extinguisher near by just in case. have and extra set of eyes looking under it for leaks. prime it for a real long time. someone watch the oil pressure guage closely.
good luck!

Make sure the trans has fluid in it, or you'll destroy the pump.

I alwyas prime my pump with a 1/2" makita drill with the valve covers off. And I WILL NOT start it until there is atleast 30 psi on the mechanical oil guage. And it also has to have oil coming out of every weep hole in the rocker arm.
