Default 1997 ford f350 7.3 E4OD

hey i need some help figuring out what i need for my truck. my tranny is shot and i'm planning on rebuilding it myself, which will be an adventure cuz i've not done shit like this before. but until i get that done, imma throw a tranny off of craigslist, or here, in my truck. there are so many differences in E4OD's i guess, and i need to know what the differences are and what will and wont work... any help would be nice
thanks -derek

The diesel E4OD case is different than the gasser. 2wd and 4wd are the same cases. The 2wd uses an E-brake tailhousing in place of the transfer case.

I think as long as you get one for a diesel or a 460 it should work, I know that all the parts in a e4od are the same so you can put the heavy duty parts in a gasser tranny,

You have to get one for a Diesel! Their not the same the 460/diesel have different bell housing bolt patterns.
