Newb...101?

ok guys im new here, looking for a cj7 or a yj for around $3,000. whats the best engine tranny combo for a basic daily driver that we will occasionally take on trails and or occasionally towing things with? much help apprecaited, i have just got out of the VW scene and i just got a 73' dodge dart...so i know my way around cars. just need the skinny. thanks....oh also what to stay away from.
