Well, it is stupid. I am sure your county has leash laws just like mine does. Did you know it is illegal to walk your dog without a leash? I have a great dog (lab) that loves people and hasn't hurt anyone and I would NEVER walk her without a leash, its just irresponsible.

Of course not, labs don't have sharp teeth and like to kill things.

On average about 27 people will be killed by a dog each year in the US, 19 of the homicide victims will be children under the age of 15. The dog that causes 3 out of 4 attacks on kids will be the "loving" family dog, such as the "friendly companion" pit bull with the wonderful disposition.

Wow, 11 pages of PitBull haters. . . amazing!

O well, I guess ignorance does spread like wild fire. Look who was elected President for example.

Edit: I'm sorry for your dog but describing a bit ear and a stomach bite as being "mauled" . . . well, I guess that's just to get the haters going I would imagine. I'm glad your dog really didn't get mauled by the pit because it wouldn't be alive.

Hopefully you did the right thing and called the law and the Pit will be put down. I don't have the time to read 11 pages of pure stupidity to find if that happened but I hope it did. A dead unrully Pitbull is alright in my book. The only negative is that we can't kill the owner that allowed it to become a stain on a wonderfull breed!

Sorry to hear about your dog,

Remember haters, a dog is only as good/senseable as its trainer. Have a lack of respect gangsta trainer, dog will follow his foot steps.

All dogs can and probably will rely on natural instict at some point. I have trained a lot of dogs and have seen this in most of them. My 8 month old Border Collie is constantly herding other dogs. It's funny to watch and never threatening. Pits were brought here for one thing, to attack other animals. Thats why they may make a great house dog, then just snap when they see a strange dog in someone's yard.

This is from the ASPCA's web site:

The Pit Bull Heritage
The pit bull’s ancestors hail from England and were brought to North America by English immigrants. These descendants were bred from bulldogs, who were selectively bred to participate in an inhumane blood sport called baiting. In this “sport,” a dog was trained to attack a bull, bear or other large animal around the face and head, and had to hang on without releasing his grip until the animal became exhausted from fighting and from loss of blood. When animal baiting was banned in the early 1800s, people began to make their dogs fight against each other instead. As this sport gained popularity, enthusiasts developed a lighter, more athletic dog by breeding bulldogs with black and tan terriers. Known as “bull and terriers,” these dogs made their way to North America to become the forefathers of today’s pit bulls.

Personal experience...Pitbulls are freaking dangerous !!

Me and my Dad were walking his dogs...Minding our own business when a Pitbull came running at us and latched on to my dads wrist ..My dads german shepard jumped over me and latched on to the back of the pits neck and pinned it to the ground and starting jerking it all over like a rag doll and broke its neck..

The owner of the pit came running up saying he was so sorry and that the dog would never hurt a flea and doesnt know why it attacked !! My dad received several stiches from that..That pit got what it deserved the only bad thing is the german shepard beat me to it !!!

Also 9 times out of 10 people buy those damn dogs cause they want to look cool and think they are MR Badass cause they own one...Not because they are cute and cuddly..

And yes my spelling and puncuation suck..Sorry..
