Default Pit Bull kills another!! Stop the madness!!!

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...BAG8181LEJ.DTL

A woman who died after the dog she was walking pulled her into the path of an Amtrak train was identified today as 32-year-old Vida Silver of Hayward.
Silver was walking a pit bull terrier on Blossom Way about a mile north of the Hayward station around 2:15 p.m. Thursday. The dog's owner, an 18-year-old man, rode a bicycle around the crossing arms as the train approached, said Alameda County sheriff's Sgt. J.D. Nelson.
The dog apparently began following its owner and pulled the woman into the train's path, Nelson said. Silver had the leash wrapped around her hand in order to control the dog and was unable to let go, authorities said.
Both Silver and the dog died when they were hit by a Capitol Corridor train headed from Sacramento to San Jose, said Amtrak spokeswoman Vernať Graham. Silver was identified today by the county coroner.
Her death came hours after a man jumped in front of a train near Grayson Street in Berkeley at 10:50 a.m., Graham said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released pending notification of his family.

i think its hilarious people still dont get it....

owning an animal that is stonger than you and has the potential to kill you/others is a risk.

fuck em.

I had a neighbor who had two rotts chained to a tree. The chain was roughly as thick as a male adults pinky. They broke the chains to the wearing of them. Both dogs were shot by police (after about the 50th time they had terrized the neighborhood by getting off) killing both dogs. They had chased me multiple times trying to get to me. The owner was a dick and didnt give a fukc and neither did the police until a different neighbor got out his gun to protect his kids.

Ugh.. I can't stand people who don't have control over their animals.. seriously. My new current anger is towards the people in our sub who think my lab is a vicious man, child, and dog eating beast. We run and walk in our neighborhood and my dog ignores everyone who we pass but people don't have control of their children or animals and they approach her and they get all pissy like it's my fault.
Yesterday I was running with my lab and we went by this house with a little white shitzu or something else like that and a mini pin. Their two dogs were unleashed and ran out into the road. I could tell they were chasing us so I stopped and my dog stood there and did nothing. The little white dog ran up to my dog and then started to cower and I think almost peed. The mini pin ran up and was growling and baring it's teeth at my dog. Then the owner came to get them and was like bitching at me because my dog "lured" her's out into the street.
The amazing thing is that crap like this happens all the time in our sub.

My neighbors had a Rot and it contentiously broke chains and collars when they tied it up outside, but, needless to say, so long as the dog wasn't chained to something it was the nicest dog in the world, but once that chain was on it would eat its own young... strong dogs, but I could hold it back on a leash...

Do you have any idea what kind of pulling power a pit has?!?

Look up dog weight-pull competitions. Pits are amazingly strong!

um, I could care less... If you cant handle the dog, don't walk it, how complicated is that? I don't care if its a shiatsu or pit, if you cant make the dog stop or mind, its not the right dog for you. I had a very aggressive mutt, but I could control it because it weighed 6lbs, if you have a pit you have to get it to respond to commands. Apparently this dog was not hers, and she should have never been walking it because it did not respond to her. It is really not that complicated.

What kind of moron rides his bike around the crossing gates in front of a moving train? All of them should have gotten splatified for being stupid.

you are a jackass for even posting this and giving people another reason to attack these dogs because some dumb girl got hit by a train. again the owners fault as usual..
(if somone trips over a yorkie and falls infront of a car and gets hit you will never hear about it)

all the more reason she should not have been walking it if she cant control it.

if the story was about a lab would there even be a thread here about this?

I am not a fan of Pitbulls, I have been bitten by one. But i am a dog person. and this was by far not the dogs fault. I have a Rot, hes a strong dog. My 100 lb wife can control him, with the use of a spike collar. This is deffinetly the walkers fault all the way. Maybe if she was useing a control tool, like a spike collar or a choke chain she could have controlled him. Def not the dogs fault. all of you who think this is the dogs fault should kick yourselves in the balls.

I remember in the 80's Dobermans and German Shepherds were the feared dog of choice. I can't remember the last time I saw one.

I think pits are just another "Fad" dog, and will be happy to see them fade away one day. I'm happy with my sissy dogs that don't have the built in attack instinct or the strength to cause trouble.

?????? these little ankle bitting asshole dogs cause more trouble in our neighborhood than any other.... way to high strung.... last week my neighbors 4yo was bitten in the face by a chihuahua that belonged to a family on the otherside of the block. this past april I was bitten by a small terrier of sorts while walking with my kids to the park down the road....my rot has bitten no one.

my rant is over. thank you for your time.

To your defense though FM, IMHO, it has more to do with the owners and the person in immediate control ( or lack there of ) the animal than it does the dog. Dogs will grow in the manner they are raised... raise a pit or rotty, or g shepard, or doberman well and right. they can be great animals and a families best friend. Raise them in an illfitting manner, you will have an a-hole dog....

my 2 cents.

sissy dogs are things like beagles, cocker spaniels, etc. Docile types

ankle biters like chihuahuas and minpins are essentially rodents.
