Default What are you thoughts???

I was talking to a correction official the other day, and he said that they were being told that in addition to possibly getting California inmates, that Michigan maybe getting some of the Guantanmo Bay inmates. Has anybody else heard this?

Does this mean we can use these now?

It matters because we can barely afford to keep prisons open, and overcrowding is already an issue. Now we are susposed to pack these pieces of shit, that nobody wants, and to make room for them, since there is no money to build new jails and employ new guards, we have to release prisoners onto our streets. So these cons from California, when it is decided we can't house them any more, and room is needed their sentances are cut short and they are released in our neighborhoods.

That the difference it makes.

humm yea cause no federal money would come with those inmates from gitmo. and you don't think they wont send the inmates back to cali when there time is up? you think thy just open the gate and let them walk out in MI? come one think about it they send them back to there "home" area at least as far as I know from the people i have met who have done time in the federal pound me in the ass prison system they got transfered around to CO, CA, and TX and still got "ticket" back to his "home" when his time was served.

Thats the game plan, funding from Cali. As we know Cali is having budget issues also. This is actually somewhat good for the prison system since they are closing 10 of the 43 prisons in the next year and a half anyways due to funding. This is a way to save some of the MDOC jobs that would have been lost.

So who is paying for these inmates to fly rack up the frequent flyer miles??? You and my tax dollars. What about the fact that they will have to make room for them in our prisons so they will early out "local" prisonser and kick them into our neighborhoods. I'm SURE the BS money we MAY get from the goverment will totally cover the influx of prisoners on the system. How about build prisons out in death valley or some shit, not in our back yards. Thats what I'm sayin.

It doesn't matter.. There are less populated areas to put these shit bags. Plane ticket or a bus ticket, shipping a prisoner across the country isn't cheap. You still don't get what I am saying.. The infux of prisoners into our correction systems will force early out, and will negate people that should be put in being parolled. We are already a trash dump for Canada, why do we have to be a shitbag prisoner dump for california and NATO? NO other countrys in the WORLD want them. There is a reason for that.

Standish is my backyard and I say put whoever in that prison (as long as the bills get paid of course). Seems crazy to have a state of the art facility going to waste. The security in that place is tighter than fish pussy. You don't have to worry about them escaping. An Arab guy is going to have a really hard time "blending in" if he does escape.

Of course you would say that.. Your town is scared shitless. The prison makes up over 1/2 of the town's tax base,$36,000 a month in taxes. There was a 9.5 MILLION dollar water plant built to accomidate it. Something has to pay for it. The debt-ridden state government isn't in a position to help. It's closing Standish Max and two other prisons, plus five prison camps, to save $120 million a year and help reduce a budget deficit pegged at $1.8 billion in the fiscal year starting Oct. 1.

The current pl;an would be to have the MDOC operate prisions that have been closed. These are for the "out of state" inmates only. Upon completion of the sentance they are transported back to the county of incarseration and released from there on parole. It would be a parole violation to come back to michigan.

humm people cry no jobs in MI now here is a chance for more jobs and you cry NIMBY sorry you cant have the golden chalice to drink from... I bet if you were a MDOC guy at risk of losing his job you wouldn't complain. the guy who has it going on in his backyard doesnt seem to care so why should you far away? you worried the home boys are gonna roll up into whitehall and make it a ghetto or start a terrorist plot there?
