Default truvia - sugar substitute

I work at a bottling plant and we did a test run all day yesterday on a product that had truvia in it. Last night i get home and can not sleep. I felt wired like I had taken a bounch of caffeen pills and i was sick feeling. I thought i was going to puke all night. I came into work today and was talking to the batcher that works the shift before me and he had the same reaction. Just because people think sugar is bad for you doesnt mean the alternative is any better.

by the way the product taste like crap too

just my 2 cents

Interesting, I have been using Truvia in my coffee for about two weeks (one package a day). I have not noticed this side effect in coffee. I wonder how much Truvia they are using in the drink? How much did you drink?

Since when did sugar become bad for you? Sugar substitutes are for ignorant consumers that listen to the bull shit the media is feeding to them. "No, I dont want sugar, I want some man made chemical that tastes kinda like it." Ohh and Diet Coke and Coke Zero are good for you too. PFFFFhh. End of rant. This has been my personal battle / kick for a little while now. By the way, high fructose corn syrup is fucked up shit to. Second end of rant.

Truvia is not a man made chemical, it's a natural plant extract that has been used outside of the US for years. I have been growing the plant in my garden to harvest later this fall.

I tried all the pepsi throwback products and I wasn't impressed. The main ingredient to good/bad pop I think is how it is packaged. Personally cans are the worst and fountain is the best and glass comes in at #2.

Impressed or not, throwback uses real sugar. Real sugar is far better for you than high fructose corn syrup or any of the sugar substitutes used in diet pops. IMHO, there shouldn't even be a choice, they should just switch back to regular sugar. It would probably eliminate some of the health problems people in the country have these days.

EDIT: I wanted to point out that sugar is not good for you either. But, it is natural and in moderation will not cause the problems that HFCS has been show to cause.

The variation in each persons tastes is interesting.

I personally love the Mtn Dew Throwback. The first time I bought it I didn't even realize what it was. After the bottle was almost all gone I noticed the different wrapper. Then I saw how short the ingredient list was.

It is amazing how fooled people are. Anything in excess is bad for you. Period. Read the gum package with aspartame in it. It features a word of caution that eating more than 1 piece could cause digestive problems.

Sorry to hear that stuff bothered you up like it did.

They use the fake stuff in soda because it save ONE CENT per 12oz. of soda produced. I have not heard of this new-fangled throwback stuff though, but I will persue it.

Well then IMHO they should just put the fat tax on pop because pop is bad for you.

orly? My point was that HFCS has been shown to cause diabetes, more so than regular sugar? I guess I don't understand your fat tax comment.

no its fluffy like sifted flour

I dont think my being wired was from drinking it because we only taste small samples. I think it was from breathing it and getting it on my skin for a 10 hour day. The sick feeling could have been from drinking it really sucked.

oh ya the ratio is about 7lbs to a 4000 gal batch and it is the only sweetener we put in it
