Default Jobs in MI

It might seem like I have a means to get back into MI. I know it's against the grain but I don't care. The economy here in So Cal sucks as well.
I know as far as getting a job goes, it's mostly luck and it's really not about what you know, but who. I was kicking around the idea of getting into what my dad did, he was an aerospace engineer. I was thinking of trying to see if I could get an entry-level CAD design type job and work up from there. I do have a college degree and it is technically related to CAD design but it hasn't helped me much.
So pretty much I'm looking for some serious advice on what the next move should be? If that doesn't work, is anyone here looking to hire someone? Thanks.

Hi there, I am a perma laid off... ready for it? CAD designer, I graduated from a trade school (high school). I had nearly 10 yrs exp. I can't find work even entry level. The big three has laid off so many people in the CAD field nearly all of who have bachlors, masters and drs. These people can't find any type of work. They are your competition. For that reason I have given up, and I'm currently going to school to become a registered nurse. Because for a while the medical field was the only thing hiring. Now however even medical is cutting back. Not to scare you but I would not make a career change into a dying field.

There's really no career to change as I really haven't gotten anything promising since college. Most of my friends down here got jobs from their dads, and that kinda pisses me off that I can't do the same because my dad did make some bank.
If I could I'd get back into automotive restoration, sure I was a shop rat but I learned a bit and had fun doing it. Even though times are slow people still find ways to have their classics worked on.
