Default TV recommendation ???

My 35" Sony heavy as hell tube tv just went out.

I am thinking about a Sony projection to replace it.
At least a 42"
Any recommendations of where to get it for the best price or a comparable one for a good deal?

Thanks in advance.

Panasonic 42" Plasma, projections are certainly cheap but I think that you will be disappointed in the long run.

Go LCD. We change out all the display TVs at work 2x a year, and after the LCD's and the plasmas have been running 14hrs a day for 6 months, the plasmas look like shit compared to the LCD tvs.

Ive been really impressed with the Vizio LCD's.

You really can't go wrong with a Samsung. Top notch quality and good features.

Vizio displays aren't bad for the cheap end, but they usually are lacking in response time, or in some features.

Sonys however, are similar in quality and features to their competition, but generally more expensive.

LG has been making some pretty nice stuff, but I'd read reviews first.

Definitely read reviews before you buy anything.

I got a Bravia 720p 32" from Best Buy for $498 and I'm completely happy with it. The picture is awesome, it's got 3 HDMI inputs and a crap ton of composite/ component hookups. Combine that with the Bravia "home theater in a box" setup and you can control it all from the TV remote (Bravialink is what they call that). Plus, that gives you the up-converting dvd player and a 5.1 surround system.

Food for thought.

I've got a 52" Samsung LCD and a 42" Panasonic Plasma , both are 1080. The plasma is in my bedroom so I have no problems with it having glare but I know that can be a problem with plasmas , the Samsung is in my living room and it looks great in every light.

The plasmas are quite a bit cheaper and I have had ZERO issues with burn or anything else. I run a PS3 to play my games and blu-ray movies on both televisions and they look equally good.

If your going to be on a tighter budget and can control the lighting in the room I would get a plasma but glare can be an issue in high light areas. I also like that my Samsung swivels on the base but the Panasonic does not swivel.

2 main factors you should look at when buying a new tv, space and money. Figure out that dollar amount before you even look, reason being is that there is always something better for 50$ more...100$...110$ more its endless. Get that dollar amount and stick to it.

After that research what is best for you. I have used 2 guys named pat norton and rob herion for years, they have changed shows a few times but they have settled here http://revision3.com/hdnation All they go over is HDTV's, you can watch back episodes too.

Every month the next best thing comes out and the "old" models go on sale. They are as bad as computers now.

Last bit of advice I can give you is shop online. They are cheaper cause they dont have the employee/commission overhead that the box stores do. You will not find a better deal in a big box store except maybe sams or costco but you would have to wait and go in them regularly.

Here are some sites I have used in the past to buy Tv's, I get a new Tv about once every 2 or 3 years.
