Default Building a winch bumper and have a question.

I'm putting the final touches on a bumper that I'm building and have a question regarding the opening for the winch rope. I have an 8274 winch and I'm planning on running some synthetic rope so I'll be using a Hawse. I don't want to cut the opening for the rope too big and I don't want it too small either. What is the normal size opening for this winch from the centerline of the lower bolts? The winch came with a fairlead, but that opening seems way to big for the Hawse to not have a gap, plus it sticks below the bumper by an inch.

measure the opening of the fairlead you are going to use...different manufacturers may have different sized openings for the same application

the bolt holes are 10.5" apart and the slot in the fairlead mount will be oversized so the rope or cable cannot touch the edges. Usually about 9"x1.5" or so and the rope will run into whatever diameter is on the hawse, about 8"x1".
