Default What do I do?

My parents are out of town. This is in their front yard. It's perfectly alert, and alive, with a couple broken legs.

It's one of three that they feed.

he's a really nice deer, and I'd hate to just have to put him down, and if I call the sheriff, they will put him down. Anybody fix broken deer legs?

Call the city and or animal control will handle it, take it and nurse it back to good eating condition.

Honestly just call the local police/sheriff...they will take care of it or contact the proper animal control/dnr or who ever. They have to do it because it is alive and beside the road and could cause an accident.

Let the sheriff put it down, or have him give you permission to do it. Backstraps = yummy!

When I was younger the DNR used to handle domesticated wildlife. I am not sure if they also handle the injured.

My grandfather was a State Trooper and the DNR would drop off domesticated to him and he would raise them until they found a zoo or preserve that would take them.

Raccoons are pretty cool pets but my favorite was the skunk or the deer. One of his deer could be seen at the preserve outside St Helen. I believe it is closed now but when I was a child he dropped it off there. It lived a rather long life and grew to be an enormous buck (20 point+, large spread). About 15 years ago some people went there and shot the penned deer. Killing most of them and taking NONE of them. They just shot them and left. Said large buck was stuffed and displayed. It was a bit surreal seeing a buck that large.
