Default ATTN eBayers: Need advice.

I put something up on eBay 7 days ago. The auction ended today.

Under shipping, I selected "United States" and nothing else.

I had a few international people message me asking if I'd ship overseas, and I said no, sorry.

It wasn't implicitly stated in my ad that I wouldn't, but in the shipping section of the eBay form, it said only "Ships to: United States".

The winner bidder was from Japan, and didn't clear it with me before he bid. Additionally, he has 0 feedback.

Can I just relist the item and email him denying his bid? Or am I obligated to send it to him even though I never agreed to ship to Japan?

Thanks!

You are not obligatied to send anything to Japan. Send the winning bidder a message that you only ship within the United States and relist the item. Notify ebay that the winning bidder wanted the item shipped overseas and you listed that you will not. Ebay will credit your account for the listing and final value fees.

Do not deal with that idiot. Well he might not be an idiot but he does not know what he is doing with 0 feedback. Or he is a scammer.

Just relist it like said above.

Or find out what it would cost to ship to him, and send him a shipping quote for $200 more. I've had some bite on that. If he pays paypal, you're good, ship it to him, but make sure he's paying for every insurance possible too.

Seems like this might get a little ugly...

Here's what I sent him last night:
Quote:
Ailo,

I do not ship overseas. My auction said that, as well as the "Shipping" section only said United States. Sorry, the item has been relisted, if you win again, I will ship to someone in the US for you that can ship it to you, but I will not deal with international sales.

thanks,
Mike
He emailed me at 2:30am saying this:
Quote:
OK I'll ask my cousin in Sanfrancisco to send it to Japan.

And I'd ask you to do me favor.
I press "buy it now" and pay $300 once, so could you refund the difference like that?

$300 - ($250 + shipping fee to cisco)

I've almost no knowledge about internet nor auction so to win the iBook last time is a greatly hard!
I understood your shipping policy but cannot win it again.

Please mail me back asap when you read this.

*email snipped*

thank you
And then he emailed me AGAIN at 8:30am saying this:
Quote:
I tried to bid again as you say.
But, the browser blocked me this time because I'm Japanese buyer!

Your advice does not works as you say.

I cannot wait any more and am ready to make send it to my cousin's house.

Please stop listing it and sell it to me at $250.00! Please!!

If this were craigslist, I wouldn't even think of speaking with him anymore, but if he really is a japanese buyer, then I understand the poor grammar. I can still ship it under the old auction, and just end this one early, but I'm truly not interested in dealing with it. Plus, there are potential repercussions with even sending it to SanFran like what if he claims his cousin never got it and then wants a refund blah blah blah.

Not cool.

WTF is the problem shipping it to him overseas? Tell him you'll do it at his cost, walk the fukc down to FedEx Kinkos and send it out.

There are two problems: FedEx is not supported by Paypal, which would mean I'd have to front the obnoxious shipping money. Also, I don't want to deal with the customs forms and shit.

Would you ship something(of decent value) to Japan for a buyer with no feedback?

I would if he payed with paypal. I have a paypal debit card so I dont front anything. I would decide what would make it worth your while. My rule of thumb is that I get an additional $20 for the hassle of customs forms and so on. I also advise the that I assume no responsibility for the item once it is shipped. Just hold on to proof of shipment. Of course the variable here is what ever the item is. What did you sell him??

It's a rare laptop.

I sent him an email saying that he will need to find someone in the US to bid on/broker the sale for him if he wants to get the laptop.

Just tell the guy you are not interested in the transaction. If he has a relative in the states with an ebay account, the relative can buy it.

You don't owe this guy anything and you've not violated any ebay policies.

make sure you request the final value credit fromt Ebay so you aren't out the FVF amount. On an expensive item these fees can be substantial.

If he paid for it, yes I would ship it.

Seriously, you sound like this --> .

Go to FedEx with your PayPal Debit Card like Xj-gansta said (you should already have one since they are fucking free ). Tell them the laptop needs to go to Japan. FedEx has laptop shipping kits (special boxes with special cut foam padding) in stock at every store. They will give you the form. You'd have to fill out a form to ship it domestic anyway, so this shouldn't even be a concern. I shipped an EoTech holosight to France a while back. It was a cakewalk. Almost shipped itself.

If you want me to work it up on my FedEx account online so you could see what it would be, PM me the shipping address and shit.

He has not paid for it, he evidently doesn't know how to use eBay.
