Default monitor question

bought a new wide screen monitor, now all the pics i look at are to wide for how tall they are how do i fix this.

change your resolution

right click on the desktop, click on personalize if you're on vista. or click on screen (I think) on xp

It sounds like your desktop photo is what's bugging you. Go to your desktop(right click on desktop anywhere), select properties. Go to the Desktop tab and look for the "Position" pull down. Yours is probably set to "Stretch" - switch it to "Center".

no it was the resolution the desktop one i had centered but everthing i looked at online like porn was all stretched out.

See if you can find out what the native resolution of the display is. Just look up the model number online, any site selling that model should tell you the resolution in the specs they quote.

On most LCDs, if you're not running the native resolution, it will look like shit. Native resolution will ensure best performance of the LCD (otherwise it has to "think" harder to scale) and proper aspect ratio.

If you're running Vista or Win7, one of the resolutions should say "recommended" next to it. Not sure about XP.

almost all modern flatscreen monitors have auto detect for it's optimum resolution setting.
