Registering a trailer in michigan?

I have a bill of sale. A weight document, and a copy of the old registration. Is this all I need to get it transferred to me?

NO.
They will also require your left testicle and three hairs from the right.

You should be fine. They will probably have you fill out the "why I don't have a title" form or whatever it is.

Is it just a trailer, or did you get a watercraft with it?

Just a trailer. The guy who sold it to me was both shady, and lived in dearborn He had an "application for title" but no title. He wouldn't give me the application for title, but he said since I have a weight cert, it won't be a problem at all.

His name is "abe". When I got a copy of his drivers license (for the bill of sale) his name was Muhammad Hussein It was like a baby obama.

FWIW, both boat trailers that I have registered in the past year, didn't have titles. When I applied for a title, I got the application receipt like you mentioned, but never received a real title for each.

Awesome. I didn't want to stand in line for an hour only to be told I'm out of luck. The trailer weighs 840 pounds, aren't those plates only $75?

Trailers in Michigan don't have titles. All you get is the regristration. As long as you have the old registration and a bill of sale that is all you need. You would have to pay around $80 or $85 for the permanent plate and the tax on the trailer.

I just picked up a new trialer this week, when getting the plates ($75) I asked what i needed to do to sell this trailer in the future, they told me all the person needs is just a bill of sale from me since the trialer I have only weighs 1300 lbs. No title is needed in the state of michigan.

I think you just need a lot somewhere to put it and get the electric and sewer pipes hooked up.

I don't think you actually need a registration to get it to where you're going to live.

What if you dont have a copy of the old trailer registration. I have a bill of sale for my trailer and will be getting a weight document for it.

When I registered mine all I had was a bill of sale and a certified weight slip. Sellar had no previous registration. No problems at all. Trailers under 2500 (I think that was the number they said) are $75 plus the sales tax you need to pay for it.

I have titles for 13 of my trailers. IIRC trailers under 2500#s don't need titles

Some trailers do have titles, Greater than 2500# it is based on the weight of the trailer not the GVWR. It is different from state to state. The sec of state has a book called a polk manual that explains all the rules between states. I had a trailer I picked up from Texas and when I went to register it here, it was heavy enough for a title in Mi, but not in Texas, there it only needed a registation, and also in Texas the plate stays with the trailer. I had to apply for a title and then get a state assigned vin number just like for an assembled vehicle ( Trailer was so old, there was not vin tag). The state assigned VIN takes time. 6 to 8 weeks but it was not to bad, just had to have the proper paper trail showing proof of ownership.
