Little bit of rust but it's the 4.0 and a stick. tires are great and I can't touch it.

2 door 161k 4.0 not a speck of rust.

Right now it's like I work at the Human society for cars. All I can do is watch.

I haven't paid alot of attention, but what's the plan for the vehicles that get turned in? Will they just go to junkyards to be parted, or is there a govt crushing program?

Cant they just rip out the motors there are a lot of good parts there.. I have a feeling that there will still be a lot of good sheet metal lost.

swap the tires for some junk ones. they dont care what tires it has when it gets crushed.

and they will never know.
its beeing done all over the place. from taking aftermarket radios to swaping tires to swaping interior parts. they dont know what the car came in like... as long as its in a drivable condition, take what you want.

yeah wish I could take whatever I wanted. First I would have to fight off those Ford techs, but nobody here is doing anything because the owner isn't letting us touch these things.

If I trade mine in I am going to get some stock wheels and crap tires, pull the front diff with the aussie, pull the radio, maybe the seats. It only has to be driveable.

I don't understand why someone isn't allowed to buy them from the program, but they VIN is locked and it cannot be registered in any state. They would get at least $500 for each vehicle back to the program, instead of just wasting it all.

All three of those vehicles could be made into a sweet trail rig, and I'm sure there's some older cars people would possibly build up into a track beater.

Well the whole plan is to help lower emissions and lower fuel usage in the US.
I do second that they should at least be selling the rest of the vehicle out side the "gas guzzling" engines. This would be our government though. Waist Waist Waist . . . . But not to worry they'll just print more money.

wzzm did a report on these "clunkers" yesterday. They showed one getting blown up with the liquid glass. Then it was lifted by a claw which pretty much destroyed the damn thing to a open top dumpster. it was a damn clean explorer and a clean xj they crushed.
