Default Newt Gingrich Healthcare Reform today

Newt Gingrich will be in my cafeteria in an hour to discuss coming healthcare reform. Any questions you'd like answered or points posed?

How will the current healthcare infrastructure initially handle the load of everybody having health insurance?

i.e. I believe there will not be enough offices/clinics/doctors/nurses for the step-change increase in patients/customers.

Well you missed the deadline, but I will paraphrase a response he gave to a similar question.

He said we need to provide healthcare to Americans, but not health insurance. He said historically during periods when Americans were starving the government provided food stamps, which in turn the Americans could use at a commercial grocer to "buy" food. The government did not, however, open it's own grocery store which would operate inefficiently and cost more money than necessary. Likewise, healthcare reform should focus on a plan to provide monetary tokens that can be exchanged for services from independent health care providers (such as medicaid) as opposed to having the government step in and managing healthcare facilities.

He also emphasized the need for preventative lifestyle changes and providing financial incentives (such as annual tax incentives) for demonstrating healthy lifestyles that reduce disease and ultimately reduce healthcare spending.

Why does the bill need Affirmative Action provisions built into it?
And would the republican bill contain similiar language?
Doesn't that mean we will be sacrificing quality of care for racial preferences?

His comment (again, me paraphrasing, he really was not this blunt) on the current bill:

It was drafted by totally leftists based on the plan put forth by Obama and Palosi. He said congressmen have a problem on their hands because the US public thinks it's a piece of crap (and they want to please their constituents); but they're afraid they'll get bitch slapped by Obama regime if they turn it down. He thinks it has no chance in it's current form or with revisions since it is so far left of center. He says a bi-partisan drafted bill is the only way something will move forward, but says it will probably be locked up for ever without action.
