the word deport has such a negative connotation. All they did was kick him out of the hospital and send him to a third world country with sub par healthcare, on a private jet I might add.

seriously though, hospitals are a business and if everyone got free care then they couldn't afford to run. then no one would get the care they need. then the gov't would have to come in and control them and well....

Problem is, a hospital can not "deport" a person. It is illegal.

Also, if there was a legal guardian for a brain injured patient, the hospital acted illegally making decisions for that patient without the guardian being informed.

I am against illegal aliens in this country (it is not illegal immigration as immigration involves legal proceedings), however, we are still a nation of laws and on the surface it looks like the hospital circumvented the law.

Did you read the article? A county judge deported him. The problem is that it was not a federal judge. The hospital just initiated the process and paid for the flight.

The legal guardian also agreed at first to send him, then changed his mind. It doesn't say at which point in the process he changed his mind.

But a hospital can arrange for a foreign person to be transfered to a hospital in his home country can't they? It only became a "deportation" because he was here illegally.

Bush fought true immigration reform as well. They all fight it. They don't want their maid/gardener/field hand to go home.

It's more likely that they (politicians) see a large bloc of future voters and want to win favor by giving them stuff like citizenship, healthcare, free education, welfare, medicade, medicare, jobs, housing, credit. What other free stuff am I forgetting?

I have mixed emotions on this issue. First, I'd hate to see anyone suffer and die because they don't have medical care. On the other hand, I pay for my medical care and so should everyone else. Lastly, with the unemployment rates being so high we should be deporting every last bastard possible to open up jobs for Americans.

If we cut our standard of living by 75%, we could take care of the world.
How much are you willing to give up?
