Default Michigan's First, Formula Toyota #095 build up *updates 11/13, pg3*

This build is for our friend Chris. He is the guy that takes all of our wonderful pictures on our trail rides. He has been wheeling his semi-built 99' TJ for the last year and half on some of the hardest trails in the country (Tellico, Windrock, Harlen, Black Hills) and finally after breaking beyond trail repair in South Dakota, he decide he wanted to his jeep to be stronger. He was eyeing Brads freshly build TJ, but after discussing what he wanted we figure it was time for a buggy. We talked about full bodied built jeeps, Full Buggies and Formula Toys and after crunching the numbers and looking at his options he finally decide upon a Ftoy.

Chris wheeling his jeep:

Guardrail in tellico:

Lower Rock garden in Harlen:

2nd time on RattleRock in Windrock:

Hal Johns in South Dakota:

We started looking around at used stuff first and found a Tex1978 selling his nearly finished Ftoy in Tecas. He was kind enough to meet us in Nashville and we picked it up a couple weekends ago.

We plan to compete in the W.E Rock this next summer, so we will be building it comp legal for the Ftoy class. Plans are:

ARB Front and Rear
4.7 gears in rear case (came with it)
Longfield Output (came with it)
Full Aluminum floor, firewall and trans tunnel
Aluminum Roof
Custom Fabricated axle housings (I think we are going build our own)
Lower the suspension some, build custom packs to bring it down about 2".
Re-do the rear shackle hangers
Re-enforce some of the Chassis with some braces and such
Basically just finishing it up and getting it out there!
Paint Scheme is going to be Old School Ivan Stewart Toyota (white w/yellow, orange and Red stripes).

We should have it ready to wheel for our November trip.

As far as I know. I have not seen another registered chassis that is online that is in Michigan. Unless someone has one that doesn't have the interwebs (which is hard to believe) lol.

You can't take any bars away from the chassis. Think of it like Nascar. It's a class that is suppose to be curved by driving skills.

We have removed a few of the added bars in order to give it a different look, but it mostly has to just stay the same.

I don't like alot of the chassis, but I guess thats part of the beauty of the class. They do look pretty nice when they are finished out.

I'm interested to see how this turns out. Some of the west coast formula toys I've watched built online have looked pretty sweet. They do seem to be very capable rigs.

Looks like all the "added bars" were tiny square tube from Home Depot...bootylicious....I'm you guys will find a way to pretty it up.

what kind of cost would it be to have a "formula toy" body made by you guys ?(i know it wont be able to compete with it being a knock off)

Drivetrain out.

Fixing the broken output and installing 4.7's.

All cut out pieces cleaned up.

New trans and repaired tcase back in.

Crossmember installed. We opted away from the flat belly as this will be a Trail truck first and comp truck second. The attention interior space will work good. Also, Chris is going to barrell-ass in this thing, so we wanted better non vibe angles.

Some temporary rollers.

Had to move it, as we needed to get the green jeep out of the hoist and out of the shop.

Floor subframe tacked in.

Going to try and work on this over the weekend. Going to work on the dash area next.
