Here's a map to a really cool one. Otherwise, not sure of any legal trails in your area. Emphasis on legal. Don't illegally wheel, and if you do anyways, don't post about it.

Yeah, the Mounds requires you to have an ORV sticker. You can get them at just about any sporting goods store, Meijer, Walmart, or DNR field office.

With the ORV sticker, you're legal to be on anything that's considered a "Route" according to the DNR. You can also be on Forest Roads in the National Forests, but only if they aren't marked closed (signs, gates, or mounded dirt/ rocks).

As mentioned, there are no public places south of The Mounds in Michigan that are legal for wheeling. Private property is allowed, of course, but only if you actually know and have direct permission from the owner. Please avoid the "I know a guy who knows the owner and he said it's ok" kind of situations. Rough guess here, but 99 times out of 100, those aren't legit and trespassing is probably likely.

The reason we all make a big deal of this around here is that we only have a handful of people fighting hard to keep the trails open, and they have a huge fight ahead of them. It just gets harder and harder when the people they're fighting against can bring in newspaper articles and DNR reports from people who wheel illegally. It's the true "one step forward, two steps back" situation.

You should definitely stop by www.GLFWDA.org and take a look. I'm not saying they're the only guys out there trying to keep trails open and open new trails, but they're one of the bigger names out there. You could also look into one of the local clubs who can teach you the in's and out's of wheeling in MI. Plus, they can show you some cool places to go.

Good luck!

Not sure how much is legal around TC. I found some neat stuff south of town off M72 on the west side of the road. Its right after you cross a valley heading south.

As far as I'm aware, there is nothing out this way that's legal. I know of a few places that people go, but I know those aren't legal. The place you are talking about is likely among them. On the off chance it isn't, please ask the owner for permission yourself, just to be safe.
