Default My slow YJ Wrangler build, Now off to a TJ build PG 6

I got a 93 Jeep YJ June 18th.

Its a 4.0L Stick, its got 150,000 on the whole thing and 48,000 on the motor (validated on that)
It got a new clutch 2003, a brand new soft top with them cool slider windows. Its probably the best deal I have got yet, I got it for $1200. The only downfall is the body but that is easy since its mostly flat and I have plenty of steel to fix the whole thing.

Plans for the summer are to fix the body and paint it.
Next year will be SOA lift or some sort of lift and 33's and 4.10's

Over the time that I have had it, I ripped the carpet out first thing. Then I took the fender flares off to see the extent of the rust. I have been working on putting new metal on the tub. I got a junkyard tailgate and a grille off of here. I have some bed liner to cover the floor once I am done with the metal work. I got the jeep with no radio and finally got a CD player in it.

Next thing I have to get is a fire extinguisher because I already had the jeep on fire and it was a decent sized flame.

When I got it:

I am not gonna be spending money on stuff like that for a while, or at least til I get the body done and painted. I still have to get fenders, and a windshield frame. I am kind of on limited funds this year since I have to save money for college.

I got some new parts, I got a... Windshield frame with glass and wiper motors, a tailgate, and both Fenders and all that for $180. I am gonna clean up all the of the parts that I have off of the truck and paint them the color I want the jeep to be oh and take the hood off and do that too.

I also did more cutting and welding and redid the bottom of the tub side with a piece of angle iron.

Well I got most of the drivers side of the tub nearly smoothed out, gonna do a touch up on the smoothing tomorrow so it will be pretty much ready on that side.

I would beg to differ. I personally enjoy these threads. Most of us got into this sport on a budget and it's nice to see someone doing the work themselves as they have the time/money to do so. Keep up the good work

The patient seems to be responding well to the chemo.
Keep up the good work.

Agreed, I get a lot of ideas from other builds on here and enjoy checking out different stuff even if it isn't as hardcore as everyone else's junk. Keep up the good work.

it doesnt matter how extreme of a build you are doing, its a rig to go wheel. there is alot of times i wish i would have chose to do a less extreme build, because you can actually wheel yours my pile of cool parts is just that, a pile of parts. i would love to have a simple jeep that i could just go wheel. great job on the body work, it looks really good

Nice Jeep, I have seen it around a few times. That's not a bad price, even with the rust it is not too often you see a 4.0 YJ with a normal amount of miles. I have been checking out YJs lately and they all seem to be 2.5l.

Got more done today, tomorrow I have two spots on the rear wheel well and the fender plus smoothing everything out. So I am pretty confident that the drivers side will be done tomorrow as long as its nice out.

My welds have definitly improved, still got a little ways to go though.
