Default Recovery basics video..

If you offered equiptment, video, editing, hosting, etc this is the thread for you.

http://www.greatlakes4x4.com/showthread.php?t=14065

Going on Brewmans idea, miff's offer, and the rest of us nerds with cameras and hosting lets plan it out a little bit and get on the same page. I'm not a pro at making movies with a point so the more brains the better. I planned on coming to the pig-gig weekend but if we really want to do this I'll arrange it up and come early to help get this shit going.

If we can all agree that theres always more then one way to skin a cat the arguements will be more offering options rather then bickering.

How long will this be intresting for people to watch and take something away rather then yawn at someone showing every inch of a 150' pull?

Do we want to do a voice over or have a lovely vanna white hands on showing us stuff? If so; who?

I'm just scratching the surface here so add in what your ideas are. Segment ideas. Common recoveries? Doing more with less? etc

The first surface to scratch is not getting sued over this " training vid " there needs to be a disclamer at the start of any such vid as no one wants liability for some one getting hurt doing whats shown in such a vid .

Doing recovery is dangerous when done correctly even .

Think this video is a great idea. Swampjeep asked if I would lone my Vanna White skills, said sure. So you have that part solved if you end up needing it.

If it was up to me, you'd have the job.

lol, well thank you!

I have done video and voice over work like this before for school so again if you need it, I'm there.

I'm sure there is a way to word a disclaimer to keep our noses out of trouble, poss get someone in the world of legal work to look it over as well just to cover all bases. Just a thought.

If it's offered for free, I don't think liability is an issue.

A short disclaimer should be enough.

Everyone needs to know the basics but accidents do happen.

Definitions of accident is, FOR ALL YOU LAWYER TYPE IS......
accident >noun 1 an unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly and unintentionally. 2 an incident that happens by chance or without apparent cause. 3 chance.
-PHRASES accidents will happen in the best regulated families proverb however careful you try to be, it is inevitable that some unfortunate or unforeseen events will occur.
-ORIGIN from Latin accidere 'to fall or happen'.

Accidents will happen and you do not want a Harvard law guy coming after you and everyone involved.
Itís a sad world we live in but you really have to think about the consequences of your actions.

Gman does this stuff for a living, he will not put his name on this and I don't blame him one bit.

If you want to do it in a series of 1 minute clips my digi cam can take video.

I have some VERY BASIC editing expereince in moviemaker.

I have some straps and some shackles which are good examples of what to and what not to use.

Also, if you dont put your name on it they cant hold you accountable (hehehe) Might even be a good idea to just host it someplace free like google video (it could get more attention there too). Also its free, and a fast server that can handle volume.

I've thought of doing a seminar or video like this for the ku club, our newbs could really use it so I would definately be available to help make it.

might be helpful if Gman or someone else who is pretty knowledgeable sits down for 10 minutes and outlines the important facts and skills of offroad recovery and in what order a person should learn them in (like just a quick outline or something) that way whoever makes it would know what too show.

just my 10 cents worth.
